Full Description
In 1996-7 a medieval farm compound was excavated at the Kent International Business Park. A number of features, a length of ditch and a pit were found of no definite date. The pit contained shells and a layer of ash, and across the main site (TR 36 NW 246) waste flint flakes and hammerstones were recovered from ditch fills. The finds and features suggest that there was earlier activity on the site dating to the Neolithic/early Bronze Age. To the north, further activity of Neolithic/Bronze Age date was recorded (TR 36 NW 395), during the investigation of a late Iron Age enclosure (TR 36 NW 359) (1).
