Summary

A small length of ditch dating to the Iron Age was identified at Lynsted in 2004. the ditch was orientated east to west.

Full Description

A small 3m length of ditch orientated east-west with the beginnings of a turn to the north dating to the Iron Age. (1)

Subsequent excavation found the ditch to run for 25m, being truncated at both ends by later activity. Two other ditches were also found, along with a possible pit. A number of tree throws were also found and these contained Iron Age pottery and a rim sherd of a Dressel 1A amphora of the later 2nd to mid 1st century BC. (2)
