Monument record TQ 67 SE 244 - Possible Bronze Age Field System, Singlewell
Summary
During evaluation trenching, prior to the construction of the Channel Tunnel railway, two Bronze Age pits and a possible post hole were found along with a number of shallow gullies interpreted as field boundaries. The actual date of the gullies is unclear. They contained Bronze Age and possibly early medieval pottery as well, however it was felt that they were more likely to be of Bronze Age date due to their close locality to the pits.
