Full Description
During an archaeological watching brief monitoring groundworks for a new access road, a single late prehistoric pit was recorded. The pit contained pottery of late bronze age to mid iron age date. The sherds were thought to come from a single vessel, although its undiagnostic character meant that it could be dated no closer than c.1000-200 BC. The sherds were found in association with a large number of burnt flints. The vessel has been interpreted as a possible storage vessel or cooking pot, the feature itself part of a presumed late prehistoric farmstead, which lies either outside the watching brief area or whose features have been truncated away through a combination of modern activities [1].
