Full Description

Archaeology South-East excavated 7 trenches in January 2007. The evaluation found a number of pits, post holes and ditches. None had dating material associated with them but one sherd of iron age or Romano-British pottery was found that suggests they are contemporary with nearby iron age features. The features are believed to represent largely agricultural activity. Some traces of industrial activity was found, proababy in the form of small scale iron smelting. Other features included a post medieval boundary ditch probably related to the nearby Repton Manor.(1)
