Monument record TQ 55 NW 108 - Two prehistoric burnt mounds, within one a circular ring-shaped feature, layers and pits, representing at leat two phases of activity

Summary

Two burnt mounds were found, represented by spreads of fire-cracked flint and charcoal. The larger, westernmost mound was excavated and found to contain at least two phases of activity including an apparently circular ring-shaped feature assosciated with an earlier phase. Archaeological artefacts included a Middle Bronze Age pin, Iron Age coin, bone and teeth fragments, struck flints and Middle Iron Age pottery.
