Full Description

A watching brief carried out in 2006/7 in the West Field of Furfield Quarry recorded a cluster of medieval and post-medieval features in the northern part of the site (MKE 21099) and a small prehistoric settlement to the western edge of the site. The settlement consisted of a 10 m diameter round house in two phases, with the second phase being substantially larger tha the first. There were also two crude circular structures, small pits, irrigation channels or boundary ditches as well as a number of other features. The features probably represent a small settlement or farmstead.(1)
