Full Description
During the construction of the Edenbridge Western Relief Road in 2004 a number of intercutting pits and pitches were recorded to the north of Lingfield Road. They were probably associated with metalworking nearby.
Features in the area consisted of a larger pit and several smaller pits, a boundary ditch and several gullies that seemed to feed into a large pond or channel that previously lay to the west of the route and that is marked on the 4th edition OS map. The features were most dense close to Lingfield Road and spread northwards to just south of Stangrove Lodge. They lie to the north of MKE40057 which also lies to the north of Lingfield Road.
