Monument record TQ 84 SW 102 - Intercutting pits, ditch and post holes small finds from the prehistoric to the medieval periods, Ayleswade, Frittenden
Summary
Post hole or small pit which contained charcoal and flecks of heat reddened clay. Two other similar post holes. Inter-cutting oval pits both contained large quantities of early medieval Local wares and Limpsfield type wares, smaller amounts of Saxo-Norman Local wares (typical of the C11th/early 12th). Roman building material mainly brick, as well a single fragment each of imbrex and possible tegula roof tiles.
