Full Description

A number of ditches and ill-defined features were excavated in 1979 following the discovery of intact Bronze Age vessels nearby in the preceding year during works relating to a pipeline.

The features were difficult to recognise due to geological factors and site conditions. This probably accounts for the absence of features other than ditches.

Evidence was found of Mesolithic flint axe manufacture and finds also included Bronze Age flint scrapers as well as pottery dating from the early Iron Age in to the Roman period (1).
