Full Description
In 1996 the fourth area of Lydd Quarry was investigated by Archaeology South-East. A combination of watching briefs and excavations found evidence of Bronze Age occupation on a shingle ridge. In total 233 pieces of struck flint, including cores and scrapers, were found along with large quantities of burnt flint. This spread of material was associated with a ditch or channel. Early Bronze Age pottery was recovered from along the shingle ridge, perhaps delineating the route of a trackway. (1 and 2)
