Full Description

During an excavation ahead of the realignment of the A228, Middle Stoke, two Bronze Age features were uncovered. One was a linear feature, perhaps a ditch. The other was oval and may have been a pit. Both contained pottery dated to the Late Bronze Age. The oval feature produced 7.65kg of pottery. This was Deverel-Rimbury style coarsely flint-tempered pottery. The vessels were typical for the area and are thought to have been domestic rubbish. 14 flints were also recovered, one from the Bronze Age features but the rest as residual material in later ditches.
