Full Description
Excavation undertaken by Archaeology South-East in 2002 at Christchurch school prior to construction works.
The late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age is represented by ditches, pits, and post holes. The ditches and gullies that may have been part of a field system, especially as they are on the same alignment as at Westhawk Farm. Numerous pits of unknown original function, but filled by a combination of domestic waste and natural silting. Two parallel lines of post-holes suggest the presence of a fence possible to control the movement of livestock. (1)
