Full Description
Evaluation undertaken by OAU in 1995 prior to construction of a new service area at Junction 8, M20.
Flint scatters suggest activity from the Mesolithic to Late Bronze Age. Pottery of Late Bronze Age is assocaited with pits. There are a number of ditches in a rectilinear arrangement; a lack of dating material prevents dating other than on their form, suggesting either a Roman or medieval date. Roman activity consists of a pit containing a cooking pot and a little additional pottery. Medieval activity is the same: sherds of a cooking pot in a pit and a few additional sherds of pottery. There is evidence of post-medieval clearing and burning. (1)
