Full Description
Geophysical survey carried out by Archaeology South-East in 2010. Part of a curvilinear enclosure was found, comprising two parallel lines with two rectilinear structures within. The southern half is cut by another linear feature. (1)
Subsequent evaluation refined the site to a sub-circular or D-shaped enclosure with an internal diameter of 25-30m. Such sites are normally interpreted as being relativly early in date, and the site could represent a forerunner to the larger square ditched enclosure to the east (TR 02 NE 15). It could thus be the site of Cockreed manor, with the larger site being the later Craythorne manor. It could, however, be contemporary to the larger structure and represent agricultual activity. No internal featuers were encountered. (2)
