Monument record TR 26 NE 132 - Iron Age settlement, Sarre
Summary
An extensive Iron Age settlement was found during work on a water main to the east of Sarre. Over the course of the pipeline trench a shallow occupation layer, pits and ditches were discovered. One ditch to the east of the site was over 10m across and may have been a fosse, or defensive ditch. Pottery removed from the surface of the exposed features was dated to the early to mid-Iron Age period.
