Full Description
TR 265650. Iron Age settlement. During work on the Calcott to Manston water main an extensive Iron Age settlement site was found. The pipeline trench cut through a shallow occupation layer, pits and ditches for a length of about 500m. One ditch to the east of the sitebwas over 10m across and may have been a fosse. Pottery scraped from the surface of the exposed features belonged to the early to mid-Iron Age period (c.600-400 B.C.). (1-2)
