Full Description
An evaluation at Kemsing Village Hall carried out by Thames Valley Archaeological Services in 2011 found two ditches, a gully and two pits. All contained late Roman pottery, animal bone, small pieces of slag and some fired clay. The pottery included late Roman grog-tempered ware, Harrold shell-tempered ware, Oxfordshire red colour-coated ware, an Oxfordshire whiteware mortarium, Alice Holt greyware, Overwey/Portchester D fabric and Much Hadham oxidized ware. It appears to have continued to accumulate into the 5th century. (1)
