Full Description

In 1996 the fourth area of Lydd Quarry was investigated by Archaeology South-East. A combination of watching briefs and excavations found possible evidence of Roman occupation. A truncated layer may represent occupation in the area. It produced a large quantity of Roman pottery. An associated ditch also contained Roman pottery. Part of the area was unexcavated and preserved in situ. (1-2)
