Full Description

In 2002 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an evaluation on the site of Crabble Paper Mill, Dover. This was followed by an excavation. The cumulative evidence points to activity focused on a sloping spur of brickearth overlooking the river. A series of eight pits were found, with an associated large deposit containing calcined flint, flint-tempered prehistoric pottery and freshly struck flakes. It represents an extensive dump of domestic/industrial debris from a nearby site. (1)
