Full Description
In 2003 the Trust for Thanet Archaeology carried out an evaluation of the field to the southwest of the former site of the Sandwich White Friars Carmelite Priory. On the part of the site closest to the priory a number of medieval features were found. The ditch and gullies may relate to fields associated with the priory. A number of intercutting pits were also found but their function was not ascertained. The dissolution and subsequent demolition of the priory was indicated by a spread of material from the demolition process and paths laid across the site leading to and from the priory, all dating from the later 16th century.
