In 2011 Archaeology South-East carried out work ahead of a quarry extension. At least 30 probably Late Iron Age features were found. These included ditches or gullies, pits, post holes, a possible pyre deposit, a possible oven and a large spread of burnt material and pottery.

Three broadly parallel curving ditches ran for at least 25m across the site and formed a boundary, containing a pit group. One of these ditches was found during a 2006 evaluation on the site. A small rectangle of scrap gold was found in the terminus of one ditch. The pit group almost certainly relates to extraction of iron ore. One pit contained a significant amount of fire-cracked flint and perhaps represents a pyre deposit. A cremation was found c.60m away on during Phase 1 of the work at the site. A vessel deposited in a naturally-formed stone hole may well have been a structured deposit. Only one possible building was found on the site, the evidence was uncertain and consisted of a semi-circular arrangement of three gullies and three possible post holes. It may also be a fence, as opposed to part of a roundhouse. (1)
