Full Description
Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1)
These thee pits were mapped from aerial photographs during the RCHME Kent NMP project. These features were mapped as diffuse hand-drawn stipple indicating a macula feature, confused subsequently for the fine stipple used for embanked features. All three of these features have been identified as negative features - pits, possibly post-medieval extraction - on the aerial photographs used for the first survey and on more recent aerial photographs - Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007 and mapped as pits for the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024 (2).
