Full Description
In 2006 Oxford Archaeology carried out work at the site. A large oven was found set within a sunken square pit, the remains of a sunken feature building. There was a complex sequence of floors, flues and fills within the building. Pottery from the feature dated to the 11th and 12 centuries. West of this structure there were a number of pits, post holes and ditches of similar date. These features may have related to occupation of the site and could have formed structures. A long-cross silver penny of Edward I was found in one such pit. (1)
