Full Description
In 2005 and 2006 Pre-Construct Archaeology carried out an excavation. There was limited evidence of medieval activity on the site. Pits and robber cuts targeting the Roman tomb structure were the main features found but a substantial ditch and a well were also located. The northern part of the site appears to have been farmed, with traces of ridge and furrow. All of the evidence located most likely represents peripheral activity relating to Grench Manor to the immediately south, which is recorded from the 11th century onwards. (1)
