Full Description

In 2005 an excavation following a watching brief were carried out by Canterbury Archaeological Trust. A series of three parallel ditches were found. They were probably intended to drain the area or prevent it being inundated during heavy rains or high tides. They appear to have silted up due to storm deposits. A number of pits were also found. Material recovered from within the features dated to the 12th to 14th centuries. (1)
