Full Description

In 2002/3 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out a watching brief on a pipeline route. Four pits and a ditch were found near the Guston Roundabout. The pottery from these was of Late Bronze Age date and it is thought that they relate to a settlement in the area. Worked flints were found in the pits but were largely thought to be residual. Barley, emmer, spelt and oat grains were found in a sample from one of the pits. Carbon from the sample also produced a radiocarbon date of 920-800
Cal BC. (1)
