Full Description
In 2007 Archaeology South-East carried out an evaluation. Five intercutting pits were found in one trench. These contained a small assemblage of Late Iron Age/early Roman pottery. An additional pit of similar date was found nearby. A ditch and a pit were found in a further trench. These features contained residual prehistoric pottery, some of it of Middle to Late Bronze Age date. A subsequent watching brief found further pits of similar date. A group of four pits was found to the east when Area A of the site was excavated and an additional pit was found when Area B was excavated. Area B also contained a number of undated features including ditches and post holes, possibly relating to domestic or industrial activity on the site. (1)
