'Arrangement of unknown type' shown on 1940 Luftwaffe reconnaissance map. The lawn shows extensive lumps and bumps in 2014 (1,2).

The structural and earthwork remains of a Second World War defended area protecting access from the shore and slipways on the western side of St Mildred's Bay. These defences include a network of barbed entanglements, anti-tank cubes blocking the routes from the beach, gun emplacements and slit trenches. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet Landscape mapping project in 2024 (3-5).
