Full Description
Following a planning application for a Solar Farm at the site an archaeological evaluation was carried out between the 6th and the 21st August 2015. A total of 48 trenches were excavated, with 28 of them revealing an archaeological feature. A number of Late Iron Age/Early Roman archaeological features and material were recovered in close proximity to the monument point during archaeological evaluation trenching on the site. The features included linear cuts, pottery sherds, and pits. E.g. In a pit cut, identified as Late Iron Age/Early Roman, a Pottery sherd was recovered identified as late 1st Century BC - 1st Century AD (Also possible its Late 3rd-4th Century). An Early Roman linear cut produced a 1st Century AD pottery sherd. (1)
