Summary
In June and July 1015 and archaeological evaluation was carried out on land at the North School, Ashford following a planning condition attached to a proposed residential development. A total of 7 evaluation trenches were excavated.
Two Early Iron Age Pits were discovered from two of the evaluation trenches. The more significant find was a pit that contained 136 sherds (1334g) of Early Iron Age pottery dating to between 600BC and 350BC, probably more specifically c.500-400 BC.
The other pit contained a single sherd (4g) of Early Iron Age pottery, comparable with the other sherds recovered from the site.
