In February and March 2014 the area was archaeological investigated ahead of the expansion of Charing Quarry. A total of 45 undated pits were spread across the excavation area, lacking any dating evidence. The majority were sub-circular with silty fills. The pits are most likely to represent post-medieval features, based on the marked similarity between them and the post-medieval features on the site, as well as the marked dissimilarity with early periods.
