Full Description
A total of 12 trenches were excavated across the site in April 2016. This was done as part of the wider Gravesend Transport Quarter Scheme. A 19th/20th century rubbish pit and four linear (gully) features were uncovered.
According to the Wessex Archaeology report: "Trenches 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 were archaeologically sterile while trenches 10-12 had only modern features of concrete footings and a buried kerbstone. In trench 2, subsoil 203 sealed in two linear features and one natural feature."
These features were interpreted as "a ditch or gully cuts running adjacent to each other with a thin 0.3m baulk of natural left between the two, no artefacts were recovered which would allow for the dating of the features."
