Full Description
Timber, poss prehistoric trackway identified by Upchurch Arch group (1) Timber, poss pr trackway identified by Upchurch Arch Group at TQ 803 694, TQ 802 694, TQ 801 694, TQ 802 693 and TQ 800 693 (1). Surveyed 1999: fragmentary remains of timber structures with struck flint scatters, bone and rare pottery; trackway; wattle/hurdlework (fish weir?) and timber posts. C14 dated to 3100-2590BP. Most SE of the five locations most likely later than LBA: posts could be associated with marsh inning works, possibly pre 19th century. LBA flint scatter in peat at most SW location, where some of timber posts thought to be recent (2).
Chart of 1835 shows a track accross the marsh at this location (3).
