[TQ 83686875] Large urns, Samian cups and patera. Brice's collection. (1) During excavations for mud on the eastern bank of OTTERHAM CREEK Roman pottery was found by workmen employed by Messrs. W & G Brice. The pottery included two large urns, four smaller urns, two flagons, four Samian cups (one stamped LVCCO) and three Samian paterae (stamped CONETIVS.F ? : LATINVS.F and OF.VITA) The presence of so many Samian pieces with the two large urns suggests interments, but it was not ascertained if the urns contained calcined bones.
