Full Description

WWII barbed wire, situated behind the beach at Pegwell Bay, and visible on military aerial photographs.

The barbed wire measures 430m in length and forms an enclosure behind and partially around some buildings (that may have been used by the military during the war). The wire was first visible in May 1942 [1] and is gone by January 1946 [2].

The length of WWII barbed wire entanglement described above was mapped from aerial photographs : RAF/HLA/540 52 17-MAY-1942 - as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024.(3-4)
