Full Description
WWII coastal defence feature comprising fencing, located on the beach at Pegwell Bay, visible on military aerial photographs.
The fencing extends 275m along the beach at Pegwell Bay in front of a structure that is already visible on the 1:2500 OS historic mapping from 1938, however it appears to still be in use during the war and has been heavily defended with anti-tank blocks in front (MWX43185) and barbed wire behind (MWX43188), and the fence described within this record.
The fencing is first visible in February 1941 [1], but was mapped from a series of photographs taken in May 1942 [2]. It is gone by April 1950 [3].
