Full Description
Four Second World War anti aircraft gun emplacements are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946, though they have been levelled on aerial photographs taken in 1966. The line of four is centred on TR 29399 39913 and extends between TR 29423 39947 and TR 29359 39884. The gun emplacements are roughly circular with cross shapes in the centre, and may have been constructed from sandbags. These gun emplacement are located adjacent to Dover Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery D1 (NMR: 1442409), and may have been used before the main site was constructed. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (1-2).
