Full Description
Second World War barbed wire obstructions are visible on aerial photographs within the sandy dunes of the Hythe Firing Ranges (Monument Number 1531850) opposite Pennypot and have been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. The barbed wire forms a polygon enclosing an area measuring about 273meters by 234meters and centred at TR 1459 3377. The barbed wire also encloses two slit trenches recorded separately as Monument Number 1532874 and Monument Number 1532876. The barbed wire was subsequently removed after the war. (1)
