Monument record TR 26 NW 205 - Late Bronze Age enclosure (enclosure A24) and structures, Highstead, near Chislet

Summary

Excavations by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust from 1975 - 1977 found an extensive multi-period landscape. One of the areas of interest was enclosure A24. This late Bronze Age enclosure had four entrances. Within it were a number of concentrations of features including hearths or fire-pits, probably associated with two structures. Groups of pits or postholes may indicate further sub-division of the enclosure. Some evidence for metalworking was also found.
