An programme of archaeological work carried out from 2004 to 2016 found a late iron age / early Romano-British round house and other features. The round house was securely dated but the other features (fence lines, post holes, pits and ditches) could only be tentatively dated due to the poor quality of the dating evidence and range of probably residual pottery finds associated.

The round house was defined by a curving gully c. 11.5 m in diameter. The gully had a single fill containing three sherds of late iron age / Romano-British pottery. A pit inside the building contained 22 more sherds of the same period.

The features surrounding the round house included a probable fence line (containing two sherds of early medieval pottery), a burnt pit (containing bronze age and medieval pottery) and a series of ditches containing pottery from the early-middle iron age to medieval periods. Although the dating evidence for these features is poor it is nonetheless assumed they are broadly contemporary with the round house (1)
