During an archaeological evaluation carried out on land to the north of Canterbury Road West, continuations of a series of Mid to Late Iron Age – Early Roman features that were first excavated during the excavation of Zones 11 and 12 of the East Kent Access Road Phase 2 to the south, were uncovered. The features mainly comprised linear ditches likely making up a enclosure systems. The features which were not linear ditches were likely associated with the field system and included and refuse pits, possible sunken feature buildings and a metalled Trackway. The activity appears to be concentrated at the base of the hill. The assemblage of pottery associated with these features is predominantly flint tempered, contains some reconstructable full and part profiles and large body panels, along with a small quantity of decorated sherds.
