Monument record TQ 67 SE 1312 - The cropmark of a ditch, possible trackway and pits can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1977
Summary
The cropmark of a ditch, possible trackway and pits can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1977. These features are situated to the north of Harts Hill. The incomplete cropmark of the ditch can be traced for circa 78m north-west before heading south-west for circa 137m. The incomplete cropmark of a second ditch running parallel to the first at its south-western end can also be seen. This has the appearance of a ditch defined trackway although this would have been narrow; the distance between ditches is only around 1.5m. It may instead represent an alternative alignment for this ditch. These cropmarks were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
