Monument record TR 36 SE 926 - Cropmarks of parallel and fragmented ditches and pits of uncertain date

Cropmarks of parallel and fragmented ditches and pits of uncertain date seen extending E-W for over 220m on aerial photographs between Cliffsend Farm and Cliffsend. Centred at TR 3551 6457, these may be the remains of former field boundaries or a trackway.(1)

One of the cropmarks was originally interpreted as part of a curvilinear enclosure or ring ditch associated with a Bronze Age barrow. This cropmark comprised a curving ditch of uncertain date located at TR 3553 6456 which is visible on aerial photographs and mapped as part of the Historic England Ramsgate HAZ survey. This may be part of a curvilinear enclosure such as a Bronze Age round barrow. The feature is aligned N-S and is located amongst a number of linear ditches and pits thought to be boundaries and or trackways aligned roughly E-W (NRHE 1619834). (2)
