Monument record TQ 75 SE 131 - Late Iron Age or Anglo-Saxon features on land adjacent to Pested Bars Road Boughton Monchelsea
Summary
Late Iron Age or Anglo-Saxon ditches, pits and postholes (the latter two based on size) found close to site of walled Roman-British cemetery. Due to the nature of the pottery a clear date cannot be given yet. A pit found during a SEAS evaluation in 1996 was dated to the Early Saxon period (TQ 75 SE 130) but this too may be Late Iron Age. The truncated nature ofthe features prevents anything more being said about them other than they are evidence of some form of occupation.
