Abstract/Summary
Evaluation of 5 trenches on agricultural land at the South end of Pested Bars Road. The work was continuation of work by ASE undertaken in 1996 and was targeted at anomalies recorded by a geophysical survey undertaken by MoLAS in Febuary 1998. The trenching revealed a number of undated, but probable RB field drainage ditches close to the Pested Bars Road which follows the alignment of the Roman Road from Rochester to Lympne. Also found was a large ditch from which 8+ pottery vessels and two loom weights were found. It is unclear if they date from the Late Iron Age or Anglo-Saxon periods.
