Monument record TR 35 SE 411 - Ditches & Gullies on the Site of the Former Sth Marine Barracks, Deal
Summary
A series evaluation trenches dug revealed excavated features which appeared to be ditches and gullies superimposed over one another relating to field systems prior to the barracks. No clear dating has been produced but probably ranges from the prehistoric era up to just before the building of the barraks. In additon there seems to be evidence of casual use of the site during the Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age.
