A magnetometer survey was carried out by Archaeological Surveys Ltd over 2.3ha of land at Cliffsend, Near Ramsgate, Kent in March 2016. This was done prior to development of the site for 31 dwellings and a retail unit and access.

The report states that: "the results of the survey indicate that the western part of the site contains a number of archaeological features, including at least one enclosure, linear ditches, pits and a possible trackway. In the eastern part of the site there are a number of very weakly positive, short linear and discrete anomalies. They are poorly defined and partially obscured by strongly magnetic debris; however, given the location of excavated linear ditches and pits immediately to the east, an archaeological origin should also be considered." (1)

The site was later excavated and the features which were seen in the survey were revealed archaeologically. They included evidence for Bronze age settlement, a barrow and some features which were and dated to the Saxon/norman periods and possibly fotrmed part of a farmstead (2).
