Monument record 1533475 - An extensive stretch of Second World War anti-invasion beach scaffolding related to Dungeness West Coastal Battery

Summary

An extensive stretch of Second World War anti-invasion beach scaffolding is visible on aerial photographs of 1942 and 1946 as a structure extending westwards around Dungeness headland as far as the Dengemarsh Gut Sharfts, and northwards up to Battery Road. The beach scaffolding had been removed by the time of vertical aerial photographs of 1962. This feature was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East RCZAS NMP project.
