Monument record TR 03 NW 147 - Area of late Iron Age / early Romano-British settlement Cheeseman's Green Area 6

Summary

Archaeological work from 2004 to 2016 across the Cheeseman's Green area found in Area 6 evidence of two phases of Iron Age / Romano-British activity. Middle / late Iron Age activity was represented by a round house with internal pits and a cluster of features to the east. Several ditches were suggestive of a possible enclosure system and a single cremation burial was discovered. The second phase consisted of a number of ditches cut during the early/middle Roman period. No structures were identified but a large number of domestic finds were recorded.
