Late Iron Age to Roman features including pits, ditches, slots and post-holes and 2 hearths. Small finds included pottery, daub, animal bone and flint. Undated features such as a hearth with associated working surface and serveral successive boundary ditches possibly also date to this period.

Full Description

Late Iron Age to Roman features including pits, ditches, slots, post-holes and 2 hearths. Small finds included pottery, daub, animal bone ceramic building material and flint. Scatter of pottery sherd in a colluvial depsoit. A dense area of occupational featues were recorde in the centre of the site consisting of pits two hearths and structural elements such as slots, post holes and ditches. Undated features such as a hearth with associated working surface and serveral successive boundary ditches possibly also date to this period.

Pottery is a mixture of shell-, grog-, glaudconite-, sand- and patchgrove grog- tempered fabrics as well a Samian ware. Ceramic building material included Roman roof tiles (tegula). (1, 2)
